Meralco: Electricity service during Eleksyon 2025 ‘generally stable’
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Tuesday said that the power situation in its service area during the conduct of the 2025 Philippine midterm national and local elections was “generally stable.”
In a statement, Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriga said that “there were no major service disruptions” in electricity service in the more than 3,000 polling and canvassing centers and other vital election sites during the May 12 polls.
“Overall, the isolated and minor electricity service concerns were immediately resolved by our crews and did not cause any major delay in the voting process within our franchise area,” Zaldarriaga said.
“Meralco will remain on full alert and on standby 24/7 to respond to possible concerns until the winners of the midterm elections have been proclaimed,” he said.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines also reported that the country’s three main power grids were running normally all throughout the start of voting until the closing of the midterm elections.
The Meralco official, meanwhile, continued to remind customers to continue practicing energy efficiency to better manage their consumption as the hot dry season persists.
Among the practical tips customers can practice are regular cleaning of air conditioner filters and electric fan blades, ironing clothes in bulk, refraining from overfilling refrigerators, and using LED bulbs for cost-saving lighting. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
