Globe ties up with unconnected.org to provide sustainable internet to remote schools
Globe Telecom has partnered with a non-profit organization to deliver sustainable internet connection to remote and underserved schools across the country.
In a statement, Globe said it signed a memorandum of agreement with unconnected.org during Innovania 2025, the telecom company’s annual technology and innovation summit.
Under the agreement, remote schools will be provided with satellite-based internet services and necessary infrastructure to boost digital learning and expand access to important online government services.
Students in remote schools will then have access to e-learning platforms, digital tools, and updated online resources.
Teachers, meanwhile, can develop their teaching strategies, collaborate with peers, and gain up-to-date content to enrich classroom experiences.
“Connectivity is not just about technology; it’s about equity. We believe that bringing the internet to these schools will unlock opportunities and inspire a future where no student is left behind,” said Globe Senior Director and Head of Technology Strategy and Innovations Gerhard Tan.
Unconnected.org said the tie-up demonstrates its shared mission of digital equity.
“No digital poverty, that’s the heart of this partnership,” said unconnected.org Country General Manager Benjz Gerard Sevilla. —Jamil Santos/VBL, GMA Integrated News
