Whoscall eyes ‘a million range’ increase in app users in PH

Caller ID and anti-fraud app Whoscall on Thursday said it is eyeing to increase the number of its user base in the Philippines this year.

“For the year, we are anticipating a significant increase… we are trying to hit a million range as a significant increase,” Whoscall Philippines country head Mel Migriño said.

Currently, Whoscall has about 2.2 million app installs or users in the country.

“Practically as we continue our operations in the Philippines, we hope to get a pretty good percentage share of the total Philippine [population] in the years to come,” Migriño said.

Citing the 2025 Asia Scam Report: Philippines, released by Whoscall parent Gogolook, Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), and ScamAdviser, the antitrust-fraud app said that 72% of Filipinos claim to have encountered scam, with an average of one every two days.

“To counter evolving threats, Whoscall has moved beyond Caller ID and now offers comprehensive protection. Recent upgrades include Web Checker, which automatically alerts users when they access phishing or fake websites, and Check, which allows users to upload screenshots or photos to identify potential risks. Supported by ScamAdviser and other partners, which provide a database of tens of millions of websites, these features train AI models for early detection, enabling Whoscall to block threats faster and more accurately,” Migriño said.

She added that in the fourth quarter the app will roll out the “Whoscall Mission” —a gamified feature where users earn Whoscall Points by completing daily check-ins, member gets member, and other in-app tasks.

“Points can be redeemed for Whoscall Premium or partner vouchers, making scam prevention part of daily life and fostering a positive cycle of awareness and action in the community,” she said. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA Integrated News
