MORE Power strengthens ops with Iloilo grid modernization

Razon-led MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) on Wednesday announced that it has launched Iloilo City's first fully unmanned 30MVA substation.

According to MORE Power, this landmark facility marks a shift toward a digitized "smart" grid, which is designed to meet the city's rising economic demands.

The facility is powered by an advanced Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, allowing the substation to be completely managed from a remote control center.

Engineer Wilmar Gonzaludo, PSPD Manager, attributed the success to "long and meticulous planning, plus a deep understanding of the system that Iloilo consumers need."

Following this development, MORE Power can monitor load flow, voltage levels, and equipment health in real-time.

This further offers critical benefits for power stability as automated fault detection allows the system to isolate issues and restore power in seconds.

Moreover, the SCADA framework provides a "digital brain" for the grid, which allows predictive maintenance and data-driven forecasting to prevent overloads.

On the other hand, removing the need for on-site personnel in high-voltage environments will also increase safety while allowing for 24/7 precise monitoring.

MORE Power also ensured the facility's physical security, having on-site guards posted 24/7. — VDV, GMA News
