AirAsia flight diverted to Clark airport due to weather condition in Manila
An AirAsia Philippines flight was diverted to Clark International Airport due to the incessant rains in Manila on Monday, the airline company said in a statement.
AirAsia Flight Z2 823 departed Da Nang International Airport (DAD) on Monday morning and was bound for Manila.
"The decision was made with the safety of our guests and crew as our top priority. Upon arrival in Clark, guests were assisted and are being accommodated at the boarding gate provided by airport authorities," the company said.
The company also said the guests who required assistance were attended to, including two guests who required medical attention. They were also given snacks, while hot meals were prepared.
"We understand the inconvenience this has caused our guests. However, given the prevailing weather conditions, safety remains our priority. Necessary operational processes and coordination must also be completed before the flight can continue to Manila," AirAsia said.
"AirAsia Philippines is coordinating with relevant authorities on the necessary flight clearances, permits, and gate arrangements. Flight arrangements and the estimated departure time have been communicated to affected guests and remain subject to operational and weather conditions. We thank our guests for their patience and understanding as we work to safely bring them to Manila," the company added. — BAP, GMA News
