Emperador re-enters FTSE GEIS as small cap constituent
Filipino liquor company Emperador Inc. on Monday announced its reentry into the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS), which includes over 16,000 securities across 48 developed and emerging markets across the globe, as a Small Cap constituent.
Emperador’s reentry follows FTSE’s Asia Pacific regional semi-annual review — excluding Japan and China — that was announced last Friday, August 21, 2026. It was the sole Philippine company added to the FTSE Small Cap in the review.
“The Company remains focused on broadening its institutional investor base, improving market liquidity and strengthening its investable market capitalization over time,” Emperador said in a regulatory filing.
It closed the first half of the year with a P3.736-billion net profit, down from P3.993 billion last year, as revenues grew to P29.595 billion from P28.199 billion. The company’s second-quarter net profit fell to P1.779 billion from P2.129 billion in the same period in 2025.
Emperador, a global brown spirits company, is valued at around $3.8 billion in market capitalization. It has brandy and Scotch whisky businesses in the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Spain, Mexico, and other international markets, and is dual-listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and Singapore Exchange.
Shares in the company were last trading at P15.66 apiece, up by P0.64 or 4.26% from last Friday’s finish of P15.02.—AOL, GMA News
