Cellular service firm cuts call rates with new promo

MANILA, Philippines - Mobile phone leader Smart Communications, Inc. introduced a new promo to heed to consumers' clamor for lower communications cost. Smart prepaid subscribers can start using its voice service for intranetwork calls for just P2 per minute with the telco's "All Calls 20" promo. In "All Calls 20," a subscriber has 10 minutes worth of airtime for calls to any Smart or Talk 'N Text number. The one-day package also comes with five free short message service (SMS) to any Smart or Talk 'N Text number. Smart also offers "All Calls 100" where a subscriber gets 60 minutes of airtime for calls to any Smart or Talk 'N Text number. The five-day package comes with 30 free intranetwork SMS. "We aim to progressively lower the costs of our cellular and data services to make it more accessible to more people, and we shall introduce more of these enhanced service packages in order to provide better value to all," said Orlando Vea, Smart chief wireless advisor. Subscribers can avail of the All Calls 20 promo by typing 20 and sending it to 909. Those availing the All Calls 100 promo can type 100 and also send it to 909. A subscriber has to dial *909 plus the 11-digit mobile phone number of the party being called to use the promo.
