PSE signs agreement for stock market shows on cable TV
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Stock Exchange has signed an agreement with a cable television station to broadcast updates of the stock market on cable TV and the Internet. The move is intended to give a âbig boost" to PSEâs stock market education campaign. The PSE said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Global News Network (GNN) for the live television and internet broadcast of GNNâs new stock market show for Destiny Cable Inc., subscribers. Destiny Cable is an internet service and cable television provider, which airs all over Asia. âThe MOU is a win-win proposition for both parties," said Francisco Lim, PSE president and chief executive officer. âThe MOU expands the reach of the PSEâs market education program; while at the same time, it provides GNN added content for its viewers. Viewers â whether they are stock market newcomers or veterans -- will find the GNN stock market TV show helpful, because of the wide scope of stock market information they can pick up from the program," Lim added. Under the MOU, the PSE will give GNN free use of various stock market information, including a live ticker tape, indices, corporate disclosures, and other information available on the PSE website. The PSE will also provide GNN other materials that GNN may need as content for the news portion of GNNâs live stock market block. GNN, in turn, has agreed to air PSE features, infomercials and announcements, besides providing the PSE with free Destiny Cable television subscriptions. GNN will beam a live telecast from the Tektite Trading Floor of the PSE during trading hours from 9:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. The broadcast coverage will be made available to a global audience through Internet streaming. Segments of the stock market program include live interviews with stock market analysts who are expected to share their market insights and stock recommendations. Top business executives from both listed and closed corporations, including potential candidates for initial public offerings, will also be lined up for interviews. The television program will also accept calls, text messages and queries from viewers on a wide range of topics. It will also run features that are based on frequently asked questions from investors.
