Clark Electric wants ERC to approve P169M projects

Clark Electric Distribution Corp., a subsidiary of Manila Electric Co., wants the Energy Regulatory Commission to approve P169.4 million worth of electrical and non-electrical projects for 2010 to 2011. The projects include the construction of an additional transformer bay at IE-5 Substation using the existing 40-megavolt-ampere power transformer, installation of power quality meters at Clark Electric’s 69 kilovolt (kV) delivery points, installation of fault indicators on the 13.8 kV feeder lines, and installation of fiber optic lines. Clark Electric’s non-electrical projects involve the construction of a three-storey office building and warehouse, upgrade of the firm’s financial management system technology, and purchase of a truck. “The said electric and non-electric capital projects shall be funded by Clark Electric using its approved credit facilities," the firm said. Last year, Clark Electric allotted around P200 million for projects aimed at ensuring smooth and reliable power distribution in Clark. Clark Electric is the authorized operator of electric light and power system within the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga. There has been a noted increase in the number of outsourcing firms in the area, said Radito Tuazon, chief operating officer of Clark Electric. “They’re building Clark as a major information, communications, and technology hub and we have a good telecommunications infrastructure." Over the next 10 years, Clark may need as much as 550 megawatts of additional power capacity, according to Tuazon. “Actually they’re thinking of putting a plant inside," he added. —JS/VS, GMANews.TV
