DTI to stores: Keep noche buena price lists in conspicuous areas

The Department of Trade and Industry on Thursday reminded retail stores to keep DTI suggested retail price (SRP) lists in conspicuous areas, even as it said prices of noche buena food items have remained stable as Christmas nears. DTI Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya issued the reminder after getting reports some stores are hiding the SRP lists. "We are reminding retailers to make sure the SRP lists are conspicuously positioned. The lists are a big help to consumers in choosing what brands of food items to buy," Maglaya said in Filipino in an interview aired on dzXL. She said supermarkets should place the DTI's SRP posters in areas where noche buena items are sold. On the other hand, Maglaya cited information reaching her indicating that prices of noche buena items are going up, but are still well within the SRP range. "Wala pang lumalampas sa ating guide price (They are not going beyond our guide prices)," she said. Prices of pasta, cheese and mayonnaise are also stable, she added. "Ang hamon medyo magalaw but still well within SRP (Ham prices are going up but still well within SRP)," she said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
