US BPO sets up shop in RP

Yet another international business process outsourcing company has decided to set up shop in the Philippines. Cordia Corp., a communications service provider based in Florida, United States, announced Friday it has formed a subsidiary and signed a lease to operate in Cebu, Philippines. In a statement provided to the media, Cordia said Cebu was chosen because of accent neutral English spoken in the area, and comparatively low labor costs. "We have been reviewing this plan for some time and chose Cebu for its staffing capabilities, accent-neutral spoken English, and lower operational cost. This new center is a key component of our plan to return Cordia to profitability in 2007," Cordia chairman and chief executive officer said in the statement. "We estimate that we can save approximately 50 percent on our cost of acquiring new customers, as well as other services through this new call center," Kevin Griffo, the firm's president and chief operating officer added. Cordia said its 130-seat call center in Cebu will provide outbound services to its United States and international market. "Additionally, the center will provide services, which have been partially outsourced to third party companies including customer welcome, support, and collection services," the firm said in a statement. - GMANews.TV
