Some banks open for Christmas, New Year holidays

(Updated 11:16 a.m., Dec. 24) While some private and government offices will be closed starting Tuesday, Dec. 24, some of the country’s banks will open their branches for a limited time to meet needs of their clients.

“Selected branches of BDO Unibank, Inc. (BDO) will open during the Holidays to serve the banking needs of the clients,” the bank said in a statement.

BDO’s banking schedules from Dec. 24, 2013 to Jan. 2, 2014 will be as follows:

•   Dec. 24, 30 and 31 - Shortened hours for selected regular and mall branches
•   Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2014 - All branches are closed
•   Dec. 26 and 27 - Regular banking day for all branches
•   Dec. 28 and 29 - Regular banking day for Saturday and Sunday banking branches
•   Jan. 2, 2014 - Regular banking day for all branches.

East West Banking Corp. (EastWest Bank) said the following branches are open on the selected dates:

•   Dec. 24 -- 168 mall; 999 shopping mall; Baclaran; Bicutan-East Service road; Cebu-Park mall; Festival mall 1; Greenhills Shopping Center
•   Dec 28 -- 168 mall; 999 shopping mall; Baclaran; Baguio-Session road; Balibago-Angeles; Banawe-N. Roxas; Bicutan-East Service road; Bukidnon-Valencia; Burgos circle; Butuan; Cebu-Park mall; Dagupan; Davao-Bajada; Davao J.P. Laurel; Davao-Tagum; Fairview; Festival mall 1; Greenhills Shopping Center; Makati avenue; Marcos highway

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) said: “...holiday contingency is already in place and we stand ready to service the cash requirements of our customers. “

Selected BPI branches all over the country will be open to service our customers on December 21, 28 and 30. The bank advises its customers to check details on its website, www.bpiexpressonline.com.

Meanwhile, China Banking Corp. (China Bank) also said some of its branches will be open on December 24, 30, and 31.

All four banks said their automated teller machines (ATMs) are ready to handle withdrawal transactions, which are normally heavy during this period.

In a statement, Security Bank Corp. announced that selected branches will be operational during the holidays.

It said customers may specifically transact at the following branches:

CDO-Limketkai - December 24 (Tuesday), 30 and 31 (Monday and Tuesday), 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
168 - December 30 (Monday) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.;
Alimall - December 30 (Monday), 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and
Market! Market! - December 30 (Monday), 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
