Gaisano heads Cebu business chamber


CEBU CITY — Retailer Edward S. Gaisano has taken over the helm of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and vowed to continue promoting the development of the information technology and tourism industries as well as small and medium enterprises. Mr. Gaisano, vice-president of Vicsal Development Corp., will serve for two years. Vicsal owns and operates the Metro Gaisano chain of stores and supermarkets. Mr. Gaisano succeeded Francis O. Monera, president of Cebu Holdings, Inc., who will assume the position of regional governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Central Visayas. The newly elected officers of the chamber were inducted into office last night. The chamber is the biggest business group in the Visayas, with a membership of close to 900 single proprietors, partnerships and corporations registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. - Marites S.
