House helpers in CALABARZON to get P750 minimum wage increase on Oct. 26
House helpers in CALABARZON will receive a P750 increase in their monthly minimum wage starting October 26, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Tuesday.
Wage Order No. RB-IVA (CALABARZON)-DW-06, the minimum wage increase will cover domestic workers in Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, at Rizal.
They are live-in or live-out employees, including general house help, nannies, cooks, gardeners, and laundry persons.
However, the wage order does not cover family drivers, service providers, and temporary workers.
With the additional wage, DOLE said about 201,000 domestic workers will have a total of P7,500 monthly minimum wage.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved the new wage order after considering the region's economic condition.
DOLE said it also consulted stakeholders and the public in Cavite, Rizal, Quezon, and Laguna.
The agency warned employers that non-compliance will result in penalties under Domestic Workers Act.
On Saturday, DOLE announced approval of a daily minimum wage increase of up to P45 for workers in the CALABARZON region.
Citing the NWPC, DOLE said that more than 1.56 million minimum wage earners in CALABARZON are set to benefit from the rate increase.
According to the NWPC’s website, the current minimum wage rate for CALABARZON is P508 to P600 a day. —AOL, GMA News
