Over one million passengers pass through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during the nine-day “Undas” travel period, from October 27 to November 4, 2026, San Miguel-led private operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said.

In a news release on Friday, the NNIC said passenger volume during Undas this year grew 4.4% to 1,291,885 from 1,237,475 during the same period last year.

The total volume also exceeded the airport operator’s initial forecast of 1.25 million passengers by 3.4%.

Broken down, international passenger traffic rose 3.94% to 649,691 from 625,056 year-on-year, while domestic traffic increased 4.86% to 642,194 from 612,419.

NNIC said October 30 was the busiest day, with 153,901 passengers passing through the airport, exceeding the projected 149,216 for that day.

To prepare for the travel rush, the company said it strengthened coordination with airlines, ground handlers, transport providers, and government agencies, supported by round-the-clock operational monitoring, additional personnel, heightened security, and passenger assistance services.

It said a 24-hour Command Center at Terminal 2 coordinated airport operations and incident response, while additional screening personnel, immigration counters, and security patrols supported passenger movement during peak periods.

NNIC added that Public Assistance Desks at Terminals 1, 2, and 3 provided travelers with information and assistance.

Traffic management teams also coordinated with transport providers and road authorities to manage vehicle movement around the airport, while inter-terminal shuttle services supported passenger transfers, it said.

Throughout the nine-day travel period, NNIC said it worked closely with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Office for Transportation Security (OTS), Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group (PNP-Avsegroup), Bureau of Immigration (BI), Bureau of Customs (BOC), Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), airlines, and other airport stakeholders.

The company said it continues to improve passenger processing, terminal access, and airport facilities as NAIA accommodates growing travel demand. —VAL, GMA News
