Puregold says prices of groceries are unchanged in its stores
Puregold Price Club Inc. on Friday said it kept prices of groceries unchanged from levels food and other basic commodities were selling in its stores before the onslaught of deadly floods and monsoon rains.
The merchandise retailer whose shares are traded on the Philippine Stock Exchange also said in a statement to the PSE that Puregold and Parco stores “have buffer stocks of goods and merchandises for 15 to 30 days.
“However, there is a need to replenish fast-moving relief goods such as sardines, instant noodles, rice, bottled water and eggs,” the company said.
The grocery store chain said it expects a deluge of consumers hankering for food, particularly those in flood-stricken areas.
“Puregold donated groceries and rice for the feeding programs undertaken by civic organizations for the flood victims,” the statement read.
“Five Puregold and Parco stores in the affected areas were closed during the ‘habagat’ deluge as the selling areas were flooded... and some stores in the affected areas closed as the vicinity of the store locations were flooded and store people were unable to report for work,” the company noted. — VS, GMA News
