TESDA, BPAP to fill trainers pool as demand for skilled agents grow

Demand for highly qualified agents has prompted the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to go on a partnership that will churn out 1,700 trainers for industry.   “We partnered with Tesda because we are adopting global standards for our trainers," BPAP president and CEO Benedict Hernandez said on Friday. “This is part of our ongoing effort in terms of adding to the talent supply of our industry and making sure that our employees are world-class," he added.   State-run TESDA has allotted P25.2 million to implement the program in line with its goal to incorporate technical vocational and skills development into the human resource program.   Growing at an exponential rate, the IT-BPO industry has a constant demand for qualified talents. According to TESDA and BPAP, a competent talent pool cannot be sustained without a substantial number of highly qualified or trainers.   The training program is designed to support the industry roadmap and the goal of employing over 1.3 million Filipinos by 2016. — VS, GMA News
