PHL eyes slice of $1-T Silicon Valley business
The Philippines is expanding possibilities for partnerships and business development in Silicon Valley, California, by creating the US-Philippines Business Support and Information Technology Delivery Council, the Department of Trade and Industry said Friday.
Philippine-grown companies Terranex LLC, Rendition Digital, Exist Global, Ionics, Organge & Bronze, Ayannah, Innerworks form the first pool of members recruited by the council.
They are at the forefront of the software and product development, information technology, business and knowledge process delivery, and electronics manufacturing industries, the council noted in a statement.
These companies joined the council to bolster business development initiatives toward expanded partnerships, said the Trade Commissioner Michael Ignacio of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Silicon Valley.
In having the council as a core institution for Philippine businesses, PTIC said it intends to build market presence all over the US and Canada.
"PTIC has screened companies that have demonstrated excellence in the service that they offer. We are thrilled to work as a team to achieve greater growth," said Ignacio.
The Trade Department noted the market for global offshore software and product development, business process support, and electronic contract manufacturing services will hit $1 trillion in 2018.
Gartner, the technology research analyst, predicted that by 2014, IT hiring in Western markets will come largely from Asia-based companies. — VS, GMA News
