PHL to privatize Leyte Park Hotel

The Privatization and Management Office and the Department of Tourism on Monday said they want to sell the Leyte Park Hotel in Tacloban City, possibly within the remaining days of the year.

In the terms of reference, the Privatization Office intends to include conservation and redevelopment of Leyte Park Hotel as a tourism place.

Government wants the hotel restored to its original grandeur as a way of promoting tourism in the region, generating revenues for Tacloban, and spurring economic growth through enhanced business activity in Leyte province.

Built in the 1970s, Leyte Park Hotel is on a 6.1-hectare resort complex with sunrise and sunset views of Mount Danglay, San Juanico Strait, and San Pedro Bay, according to the Privatization Office. — VS, GMA News
