Bidding open for PVC tent terminals at regional airports – DOTC

Bidding is open for the supply and installation of semi-permanent PVC tent terminal buildings at the Tagbilaran, Puerto Princesa, Tacloban, and Clark International Airports to accommodate the increasing number of arrivals in the area, the Department of Transportation and Communications said over the weekend. In its invitation to bid, the DOTC said the P166.4-million project will expand the airports' existing check-in and/or pre-departure areas. Passenger volume at the Clark airport soared by 71 percent to reach a record 1.3 million passengers in 2012. In 2011, the airport processed 767,000 passengers. Tacloban Airport's passenger traffic grew by 20 percent year-on-year in 2012. Work on its expansion will begin this year. According to the DOTC, the PVC tents are semi-permanent structures that are meant to cover the needs of the airports while their expansion or rehabilitation is underway; the tents can be dismantled and then reused by other airports in the future. — BM, GMA News
