DoE to unveil hydropower roadmap on Thursday


The Department of Energy will present the roadmap for the hydropower industry on Thursday during the opening ceremonies of the two-day Philippine Hydropower Summit in Makati. “We look forward to the presentation of the DOE on the roadmap for the hydropower development in the country and together with the other stakeholders we will plan on how best we can address the challenges of producing clean and indigenous source of fuel such as hydro," said Philippine Association of Small Scale Hydropower Inc. (PASSHydro) president Jose Silvestre M. Natividad. PASSHydro is the association of hydropower developers, suppliers and consultants in the Philippines. The summit, said Natividad, who is also president of Sunwest Water and Electric Co. Inc (SUWECO), will provide industry players opportunities to establish ties with developers, financing institutions, technology suppliers and the government. Vice President Jejomar Binay will be the summit's guest of honor and keynote speaker. Other notable figures expected to attend are International Finance Corporation representative Jesse Ang, World Wildlife Fund CEO Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, National Renewable Energy Board chairman Pete Maniego, Benguet Governor Nestor B. Fongwan and Energy Regulatory Commission executive director Saturnino Francis Juan. — BM, GMA News
