DILG urges business establishments to install CCTV cameras

The Department of Interior and Local Government on Wednesday promulgated a new measure directing local government units to create ordinances that will encourage business establishments to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

"Ayon dito sa memorandum circular, hinihikayat natin ang bawat Sanggunian Panglungsod at Sangguniang Bayan ng capital towns… na magpasa ng sapat na ordinanasya na kung magtatayo po kayo ng isang uri ng negosyo… na dapat magkaroon ng CCTV hindi lamang nakatutok sa loob pero pati na rin sa kalye," Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II said in a press conference.

Roxas explained that businesses with enough capitalization and size are obliged to install CCTV cameras on the premises.
