Govt offices eyeing 4-day workweek need to apply with CSC first
Government agencies looking to avail of a four-day workweek scheme for its employees should apply first with the Civil Service Commission and not implement the setup immediately.
This was the reminder issued Monday by CSC Chairman Francisco Duque III, who also stressed the need to follow guidelines his office set earlier, radio dzBB reported.
Duque said government offices and agencies must first seek approval from the CSC.
He also cited the need for a transition period for the four-day workweek scheme.
Other requirements include:
- ensuring the agency's accessibility online
- maintaining a call helpline
- maintaining a skeletal force on the "day-off" weekday.
Earlier this month, the CSC issued a resolution approving a four-day workweek scheme for government agencies in Metro Manila.
This aims to help ease the traffic congestion amid the work on major infrastructure projects.
Under the scheme, a workday may run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., extended to 10 hours with a one-hour lunch break, so employees can meet the required 40 hours a week. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
