NGCP: Power interruptions in Cagayan, Ilocos Sur on Dec. 12


Residents in Cagayan and Ilocos Sur provinces may have to brace for power interruptions on Friday, Dec. 12, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said.
 
In the first advisory issued Wednesday, the NGCP said parts of Ilocos Sur may expect a six-hour brownout from 6 a.m. to noon.
 
Affected is the Ilocos Sur Electric Cooperative (ISECO) Candon Substation.
 
The affected areas include San Esteban, Santiago, Candon, Banayoyo, Sta. Lucia, Galimuyod, Tagudin, Salcedo, Sta. Cruz, Suyo, Sigay, Quirino, San Emilio, Gregorio del Pilar, Alilem, Cervantes, Lidlidda, and parts of Sugpon, Ilocos Sur.
 
NGCP said three wood poles will be replaced by steel poles. The wood poles were toppled by strong winds fromTropical Storm Mario.
 
Meanwhile, in Cagayan, the NGCP warned of interruptions from 8 to 8:15 a.m., and 5:45 to 6 p.m.
 
Affected will be the Cagayan Electric Cooperative I (CAGELCO I) Alcala Substation.
 
The affected areas include Alcala, Baggao, Amulung and Brgy. Cataruan, Piat, Cagayan.
 
NGCP said this is due to the isolation and reconnection of Alcala-Magapit-Camalaniugan 69kV line segment.
 
 
This is for the correction of hotspots and replacement of line hardware along Alcala-Camalaniugan 69kV line segment. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
