NGCP restores power transmission to Samar after Ruby
Brownouts due to Typhoon Ruby (Hagupit) may finally be over soon for residents of Samar island, after the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines restored power transmission facilities there.
In an advisory Monday night, the NGCP said it re-energized the 138kV Babatngon-Paranas Line 2 and 138kV Paranas-Calbayog Line 2 at 8:09 and 8:12 p.m. respectively.
This allows the NGCP to transmit power to the cooperatives concerned, it added.
Ruby had knocked down several power lines in Visayas when it pounded the Visayas and parts of southern Luzon earlier this month.
NGCP said the energization of the substations of cooperatives followed:
- SAMELCO 2: Paranas Substation, 8:47PM and Catbalogan Substation, 9:11 p.m.
- SAMELCO I: Capoocan and Palanas Cara Substations, 8:53 p.m.
- NORSAMELCO: Bobon Substation, 9:21 p.m., and Bobolosan Substation, 9:42 p.m.
NGCP said it will "continue repairing other 69kV lines also damaged by typhoon Ruby to be able to energize the other substations of the Samar Island cooperatives." —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
