NGCP: 12-hour power interruption in Mt. Province Jan. 7

Parts of Mountain Province and nearby areas may experience a power interruption of up to 12 hours, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said.

In an advisory, the NGCP said this is due to a scheduled shutdown of some of its transmission facilities.

The NGCP said the outage from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. will affect the entire Mt. Province Electric Cooperative Inc. (MOPRECO) franchise area.

Affected areas include:

Mt. Province (Sabangan, Bauko, Tadian, Besao, Sagada, Bontoc, Sadanga, Barlig, Natonin and Paracelis)
Cervantes, and Quirino, Ilocos Sur
parts of Tinglayan, Kalinga and Balili, Mankayan, Benguet

The NGCP said the outage aims to accommodate the request of HEDCOR for tapping/connection of their 69-kilovolt line segment to their substation. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
