BCDA to oil firms: Put up mega stations along SCTEX
By KATHRYN MAE TUBADEZA, GMA News
The Bases and Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) will ask oil companies to put up megastations along the stretch of the 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).
"We will definitely ask for more megastations in the future as traffic volume increases but for now we are focusing on the first two stations," BCDA president and CEO Arnel Casanova told GMA News Online on Thursday.
SEAOIL Philippines Inc. and PTT Philippines will put up mega stations along SCTEX.
A mega station is a combination of a gas station and commercial and service areas, Casanova noted.
"There is so much demand for that facility and service in SCTEX," he added.
Average daily traffic in SCTEX is 32,000 vehicles on weekdays and 40,000 on weekends.
SCTEX is a four-lane expressway that traverses Bataan, Pampanga, and Tarlac and is directly linked to the North Luzon Expressway.
In a statement Thursday, SEAOIL said it collaborated with CityMall Commercial Centers Inc., the mall development arm of DoubleDragon Properties Corp., to put up a P350-million mega station along SCTEX. It broke ground on Wednesday.
"That will be the first in SCTEX to service for comfort and convenience of our motorists," Casanova said.
The mega station of SEAOIL will be operational by December, he noted.
The two-hectare full-service filling station will be located "midway from Baguio to Manila" that will have an array of restaurants, convenience stores and pasalubong kiosks.
Casanova said PTT Philippines will also break ground for the service area on the North bound section by April. — ELR, GMA News
