DTI destroys substandard Christmas items

Personnel from the Department of Trade and Industry destroyed on Monday some substandard Christmas items using a bulldozer, a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday said.

Among the items destroyed at the DTI office in Makati City were Christmas lights and helmets not meeting the required markings according to the Philippine National Standards (PNS) and the DTI-Bureau of Philippine Standards' (BPS) Product Certification Scheme.

The DTI said it will continue to monitor the sale of substandard Christmas lights to prevent accidents.

It added that the public may inform their office about vendors selling such items. —KG, GMA News
