OR FACE SUSPENSION

BOC asks accredited importers to update account info

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is asking accredited importers to update their contact details with the bureau's Account Management Office (AMO) within 30 days, or face suspension.

In an emailed statement, the BOC said it published on its website and its official Facebook page a list of more than 3,000 importers with outdated or incorrect phone numbers or email addresses.

"Upon verification, phone calls made to 1,206 importers reveal incorrect or non-working numbers, while emails to 2,365 importers bounced back," the bureau said.

The bureau warned importers that their accreditation can be suspended based on Section 7 of Customs Memorandum Order No. 11-2014 if their fail to update their contact details.

The BOC noted that among the documents required to update the contact information on the AMO list include:

  • Letter request to BOC-AMO for the amendment of CPRS data and information on email addresses and phone numbers
  • Print out of the importer's CPRS profile as amended
  • Print out of the value-added service provider's email notification of “STORED” CPRS profile

"This is one of the ways to better serve the importers, so they should also do their duty by informing us of any changes in their phone numbers or email addresses," Customs Commissioner Nicanor E. Faeldon said. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VS, GMA News
