HLURB wants centralized system for housing and related agencies
The Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) on Monday said it wants housing agencies to come up with a centralized system to hasten the processing of applications for development projects in the country.
"Problema kasi sa government ngayon, everybody's protecting their own interest, so we have to find a way to at least temper their own interest," HLURB Commissioner Lloyd Christopher A. Lao said in a briefing in Makati City.
Developers must file applications different agencies such as the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG) and the Bureau of Internal Revenues (BIR), which in essence ask for the same set of documents, Lao said.
It would be easier to have a centralized system so that applicants would simply have to submit a single set of documents that will be received by all the relevant agencies, he noted.
"If we agree, better na 'yun, pero with the counter proposal na we will help you, we will loosen things. But we will also be stricter in things of primordial interest," he said.
"Safety – dun 'di mo pwedeng i-bend. But the rest, you have to consider kasi it all boils down to economics," Lao added. — VDS, GMA News
