Chicken meat up by P15 per kilo in Metro Manila

Prices of chicken meat in Metro Manila have increased by as much as P15, following the increase in demand as the holiday season approaches.

According to a report on GMA's "24 Oras," prices of chicken meat at the Mega Q-Mart in Quezon City have increased by P10 to P15 per kilogram.

United Broilers Raisers Association (UBRA) president Elias Jose Inciong said the increase is due to the higher demand this holiday season, but noted that the supply remains enough even with the recent avian flu outbreak in the country.

"Sa manok na ginagawa nating fried chicken, adobo, tinola, ay hindi naman apektado," he said, noting that only layer chickens were affected by the recent outbreak. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
