Authorities eye SRP on pork, chicken
Authorities have agreed on the possible suggested retail price (SRP) for pork and chicken to regulate prices and protect the rights of consumers.
According to a report on "News to Go" on Wednesday, data from the National Federation of Hog Farmers show that the following SRP scheme is being proposed:
Pork
- Farm-gate - P130 per kilo
- SRP - P200 per kilo
Chicken
- Farm-gate - P75 per kilo
- SRP - P125 per kilo
However, the SRP is yet to be finalized.
In the mean time, the Department of Agriculture is set to monitor the SRP's implementation among retailers, and to possibly apprehend violators. —Margaret Claire Layug/LBG, GMA News
