Vegetable prices down in Balintawak market, Mega Q-Mart


Prices of vegetables at Balintawak market and Mega Q-Mart in Quezon City have gone down few days before Christmas, a report on "24 Oras" by GMA News' Lei Alviz said Thursday.

According to vendors at Balintawak market, where traders from provinces in Luzon drop off their vegetables, the prices of vegetables have decreased from P5 to P30.

The price of pechay has gone down by P5 per kilo; while the price per kilo of sayote, potatoes, carrots, and eggplant has been reduced by P10.

Other vegetable prices also have gone down:

  • Cabbage by P15 per kilo
  • Cauliflower by P20 per kilo
  • Ampalaya by P25 per kilo
  • Bell pepper by P30 per kilo

Vendors, however, have yet to enjoy brisk sales.

"Matumal pa kasi ang benta kasi abala pa mga tao sa pamimili ng ibang bagay," Nining Valdez, a vegetable vendor, said.

In Mega Q-Mart, meanwhile, the price of sayote has gone down by P10 per kilo; while the prices of potatoes, carrots, ampalaya, oka, and tomatoes have declined by P20.

The prices of cabbage and eggplant have also gone down by P30 per kilo; while the prices of bell pepper and cauliflower went down by P50.

Vendors advised customers to take advantage of lower vegetable prices because it is expected to shoot up as Christmas approaches. —LDF, GMA News
