Philippine Tax Academy to offer public finance, online courses in 2019
The Philippine Tax Academy (PTA) is offering specialized study programs and online courses in 2019, the Department of Finance (DOF) said Wednesday.
The DOF has partnered with the Graduate School of the University of the Philippines-Los Baños to offer off-campus specialized study program in public finance.
The post-graduate course is open to all personnel of the DOF, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF).
“At some point, we may have a film studio. Can we use that to film the lecturers, so that we can use these lectures in remote area,” the DOF said, quoting Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III.
Finance Undersecretary Gil Beltran noted the plan is to have senior officials of the DOF join the teaching team as professors. The curriculum and syllabus will be developed based on ASEAN University Network Standards.
Under Republic Act 10143, the PTA is mandated to provide appropriate education, training skills, and values to tax collectors and administrators.
All existing officials and personnel of the BIR, the BOC, and the BLGF will also be required to undergo re-tooling and enhancement seminars and training programs at PTA. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
