Diokno to Andaya: ‘Sue me’

“Sue me,” Budget Sec Benjamin Diokno said Wednesday in response to House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr.’s threat to file a case against him before the Supreme Court if he fails to implement the 4th tranche of the salary increase for government employees by January 15.

Diokno said the pay hike was provided for in the proposed 2019 national budget, which is still pending in Congress, not in the reenacted 2018 national budget.

“Since we are operating under the 2018 reenacted budget, then there’s no legal basis for us to pay,” Diokno said.

Diokno gave the assurance that the pay hike would be retroactive. —VDS, GMA News
