Foreign buying keeps PSEi in the green

Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange traded flat on Thursday, albeit on a positive note, as entry of foreign funds kept the market in the green.

The benchmark PSEi increased slightly by 15.35 points or 0.19 percent to 7,876.40 at the closing bell. The broader All Shares gained 7.54 points or 0.16 percent to 4,843.44.

"Asian equities' market remain flat today, including here at the PSEi," Eagle Equities Inc. head of research Chris Mangun said.

"It was a boring day for the PSE. Almost 60 percent of trading today was done by foreign investors," Mangun said.

Foreign funds bought P2.997 billion shares and sold P2.298 billion for a net buying position of P699.007 million.

"Foreign money continues to flow in with net buying at P699.0-million," Mangun said.

More than 900.565 million shares valued at P5.086 billion, changed hands. Advancers led decliners, 120 to 78, and 46 issues were unchanged. — BM, GMA News
