DTI OKs price increase for coffee, milk, fish sauce

Consumers should brace for higher prices of coffee, milk, and fish sauce (patis) in the coming days as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) approved the price adjustments for the said goods.

According to a report by GMA News' Bernadette Reyes on "Unang Balita" Wednesday, the DTI has approved a P0.25 to P1.80 increase for every can of milk, P0.45 to P0.80 hike for patis, and P1 per pack of coffee.

"Pinag-aaralan ng DTI 'yon and we make our own research para masigurado natin 'yung mga reason nila for increase. Kung justified siya, we approve it," DTI Undersecretary for Consumer Protection Ruth Castelo said.

The price adjustment will take effect 15 days after the DTI published the updated suggested retail prices (SRP) in newspapers of general circulation. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
