DBM releases P22.3B for June-December 2019 pension differential of retired military, uniformed personnel

The Department of Budget Management (DBM) on Friday said that it already disbursed P22.3 billion to cover the pension differential of military and uniformed personnel (MUP) retirees, pursuant to the increased base pay of those in active service.

The DBM said that the amount has been released to the Department of National Defense, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority, and the Philippine Coast Guard for pension differentials of their retirees for the period of June to December 2019.

"The pension differential for the period of January to May 2019 will be acted upon separately, subject to the availability of funds," it added.

In January 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Congress Joint Resolution No. 1, s. 2018, increasing the base pay of all MUP.

The DBM, however, clarified that there will be no pension differential to be paid for the fiscal year 2018 because the indexation of the pension of retired MUP with the base pay of those in active service has been suspended during that time.

That suspension was lifted on January 1, 2019. —NB, GMA News
