DPWH opens Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intersection flyover
Motorists can now traverse the P264 Million flyover at the Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intersection in Imus City, Cavite as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officially opened the overpass to vehicular traffic on Saturday.
In a statement, the DPWH said that Public Works Secretary Mark Villar led the opening of the four-lane flyover in Barangay Anabu.
The road bridge had a total length of 564 lineal meters, including approaches, and was the first flyover built in Imus City, Cavite.
The project was seen as the solution to the heavy traffic at the Aguinaldo Highway-Daanghari Road intersection, and the nearby Anabu roads leading to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, according to Villar.
The project would travel time from Daang-Hari Road - the main road to and from thickly populated Cavite and Metro Manila, going to Malagasang-Bucandala-Alapan Road.
The flyover was also expected to eliminate delays especially for the through traffic movement at Daang Hari Road.
The project was implemented by DPWH Regional Office IV-A headed by Regional Director Samson Hebra together with the Cavite 1st District Engineering Office.
Construction started in March 2016 and progress of work was hampered by right-of-way issues and an accident in May 2018 during which a boom crane operator mistakenly placed a girder or concrete beam on the flyover, causing a collapse. — John Ted Cordero/DVM, GMA News
