QC's Barangay Commonwealth is positive for African swine fever —Joy Belmonte

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte announced on Wednesday that Barangay Commonwealth has tested positive for African swine fever.

Belmonte, in a text message to GMA News, said results were confirmed by the Bureau of Animal Industry.

“Commonwealth is within the seven-kilometer zone of Bagong Silangan and Payatas," she added.

The mayor also announced that Barangay Bagong Silangan has been cleared of ASF.

Belmonte said the last batch of 197 hogs in the said barangay had been culled already.

Earlier, Belmonte declared Barangays Tatalon, Tandang Sora and Pasong Tamo as cleared of ASF. —KG, GMA News
