NEDA to review list of 100 infra projects Wednesday

The National Economic and Development Authority’s (NEDA) Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) is set to approve this week the revised list of infrastructure projects targeted to be rolled out by the current administration.

The deliberations will happen on Wednesday, November 6, Undersecretary Jonathan Uy, NEDA’s officer in charge for Investment Programming said Monday.

“We are moving forward to presenting it to the adjoined infrastructure committee and investment coordination committee meeting being planned on Wednesday,” he told reporters in Pasig City.

The list consists of infrastructure projects the administration targets to roll out before its term ends in 2022.

“We have an update on the infrastructure flagship program. That’s it. We’re moving forward for it to be approved by the government,” said Uy.

“I can’t go to the details right now, but initially it’s 100. At this point, it’s 100 (more or less). More on the less rather than the more, kasi I’m expecting scrutiny of the list by the economic managers,” he added.

There have been changes made to the list of 75 flagship infrastructure projects, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia said last month. Unfeasible projects were shelved, while smaller projects were added.

“We have the Davao transport, we have to discuss that. We have, I think, the Camarines Sur high-speed highway, and we are also seeing Davao-Samal possibly,” Uy said, citing other matters to be discussed on Wednesday.

The Davao City government plans to put up a high-priority bus system (HPBS) to address traffic congestion and lower the area’s carbon footprint.

It also aims to connect Davao City to the Island Garden City of Samal with a 2.62-kilometer bridge, which is up for the ICC approval. —VDS, GMA News
