PLDT to provide free speed boost for Fibr subscribers amid community quarantine

PLDT Inc. on Monday announced a free speed boost for Fibr subscribers for over a month, given the community quarantine placed over Metro Manila.

In an advisory, PLDT said the free boost will bring the minimum speed to 25 megabits per second (Mbps) until April 30, 2020.

"This will be applied to residents of Metro Manila and parts of Greater Manila - Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal - in the hopes that your family can work and study from home as seamlessly as possible," it said.

PLDT, along with its mobile subsidiary Smart Communications Inc., also announced similar measures.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier on Monday announced an "enhanced community quarantine" over the entire Luzon island to contain the spread of COVID-19.

This was a step up from the community quarantine placed over Metro Manila, preventing the entry and exit of non-essential travels to and from the National Capital Region from March 15 to April 14. —LDF, GMA News
