BSP governor Diokno tests negative for COVID-19

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Benjamin Diokno has tested negative for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the central bank announced Wednesday.

To recall, Diokno went into self-quarantine after getting exposed to a COVID-19 positive person during an inspection of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) Harbor Link C3-R10 section on March 5, which was also attended by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“He will report for work tomorrow, just in time for the Monetary Board policy meeting,” the BSP said.

“The continued health of members of the Monetary Board is paramount to the stability of the financial system amidst this pandemic,” it said.

The central bank chief also urged the members of the financial system to cooperate with the national government’s effort to delay the spread of COVID-19.

“Rest assured that the BSP continues to foster price stability, financial stability, and an efficient payments system to promote the economic well-being of Filipinos,” the central bank said. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA News
