Gov't reviewing 'Build, Build, Build' projects as priority is on health infra
The Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program is undergoing review to revamp the flagship projects as the government moves its focus on healthcare infrastructure amid the COVID-19 crisis.
“Sa kasalukuyan nire-review natin at nirerepaso natin ang listahan ng ating infrastructure flagship projects sa tulong ng NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority), DOTr (Department of Transportation) at DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways),” Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Projects Vince Dizon said during the Laging Handa public briefing on Friday.
Dizon, the president and CEO of Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), also sits as deputy chief implementer of the National Task Force against COVID-19. He said a meeting among concerned agencies on infrastructure projects is ongoing.
“Malalaman natin sa mga ilang mga araw ano ang magiging priority natin, kung ano ang kailangan pabilisin at ano ang mga kailangan nating palitan lalo na ngayon na dinadaanan itong problema sa COVID-19,” Dizon said.
“Kaialngan natin dagdagan ang mga proyekto para palakasin ang ating healthcare infrastructure.”
Acting NEDA chief Karl Chua has earlier said that the Duterte administration remains committed to getting the “Build, Build, Build” program back on track.
Dizon said once the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases gives the green-light to resume construction works, the government will fast track the implementation of infrastructure projects, while observing health standards such as physical distancing and wearing of protective equipments.
“Uunahin natin ‘yung mga proyekto na pinakamalaki ang impact,” he said. --KBK, GMA News
