Jobstreet report: 49% Filipinos want to work remotely for foreign employers

A recent report of online job search website Jobstreet revealed that 49% Filipinos preferred to get jobs from employers overseas but on a work-from-home status amid the pandemic, Vonne Aquino's report on State of the Nation showed Tuesday.

Jandy Rivera was recently hired as a technical support representative at a US-based company and is able to work from their home in Bulacan.

"Gusto ko magtrabaho abroad pero ngayon, gusto ko magwork from home. Management-wise, maganda work from home set up," Rivera said as interviewed in the TV report.

According to data from the online job portal, the top countries chosen for remote employment are: Australia, Canada and America.

As of March 2021, more than 12,000 remote jobs are available on Jobstreet.com. These include customer representative, online English teacher, digital marketer, and web developer.

Jobstreet's survey also showed that there is a decrease in the number of Filipinos who want to work in other countries from 74% in 2018 to 54% in 2021.

The online job portal also stated that work-from-home employment is in demand as more Filipinos are starting to adapt from the work scheme during the COVID-19 crisis. -- Consuelo Marquez/BAP, GMA News
