PSE back to five-hour trading schedule in March

The Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. will revert back to a five-hour trading schedule in March, after over a month of implementing shortened trading hours due to the surge in COVID-19 cases last month.

In an advisory released Wednesday, the PSE said the five-hour trading schedule will start on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

The trading day will start with a pre-open at 9 a.m., and officially open at 9:30 a.m., prior to a one-hour market recess starting at 12 p.m.

The market will resume trading at 1 p.m., before the pre-close at 2:45 p.m., run-off or trading at last at 2:50 p.m., and the market close at 3 p.m.

PSE president and chief executive officer Ramon Monzon said the updated schedule will be in effect until further notice.

To recall, the PSE imposed shortened trading hours—9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—starting January 14, 2022, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant.

The country reported a record-low daily tally of 1,019 on Tuesday, February 22, bringing the active COVID-19 case count to 56,668. The total caseload now stands at 3.654 million, including 3.541 million recoveries and 55,776 deaths.—AOL, GMA News
