Agricultural damage due to ITCZ in Region X reaches P77M —NDRRMC


The effects of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) caused damage to agriculture in Region X worth P77 million, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Saturday.

The total agricultural damage so far in the said region is P77,327,595, it said.

Meanwhile, damage to infrastructure in Region X has been pegged at P8,610,000 so far, the NDRRMC said.

Nine roads were affected which are now passable.

One hundred forty-three houses were damaged, of which 75 were totally damaged and the rest partially.

A total of 11,065 families or 52,209 persons were affected by the floods in 23 areas. These floods have already subsided.

Four landslides were reported.

The death toll has remained at one.

Region XII

Meanwhile, 99 families or 357 persons were affected in the flooding incident that occurred in Pigcawayan, Cotabato in Region XII, the NDRRMC added.

A total of 119 farmers and 106.25 hectares of agricultural land were affected.

Caraga

In Agusan del Sur, Caraga, on the other hand, the effects of the ITCZ caused flooding in five areas. These floods have already subsided, the NDRRMC said.

One landslide was reported.

A total of 848 families or 4,648 persons were affected by the effects of the ITCZ.

Power went out in one municipality, but this has already been restored.

Four roads were affected but have now become passable.
