Vegetable prices increase at Quezon City market


Prices of several vegetables increased at a market in Quezon City, according to a Super Radyo dzBB report.

“Gulay Tagalog” prices rose by P10 to P80 per kilo in Mega Q Mart.

Sitaw or string beans increased to P40 per bundle from the previous price of P30, while eggplant was at P100 from P60.

The price of ampalaya or bitter gourd also rose to P100 per kilo from the previous P70 per kilo, and okra was now at P100 from P80.

Garlic was now priced at P160 per kilo from P140.

Siling labuyo now costs P280 per kilo from the previous P200 per kilo.

On the other hand, carrots dropped to P100 per kilo from P200 per kilo.

Prices of other vegetables, however, remained unchanged, including tomatoes priced at P60, potatoes at P140, chayote (sayote) at P35, cabbage at P60, cucumber at P100, onion at P120, green chili at P150, and ginger at P150.

The Department of Trade and Industry had earlier projected an increase in the price of basic commodities such as rice, canned sardines, instant noodles, and milk.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) earlier said manufacturers of these products, along with canned meat, coffee, bottled water, salt, and condiments, have pending petitions for price increases. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
