Over 5k job seekers hired on the spot during Labor Day job fair —DOLE

More than  5,000 job seekers were hired on the spot during a massive job fair held on Labor Day, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). 

DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma on Wednesday said around 2,500 employers participated in the job fair conducted in 96 sites across the country on May 1.

Around 47,000 individuals registered for the job fair. 

“Out of that number, ang na-hire dun ay more than 5,000 hired on the spot. Various ‘yan..May kabataan, may senior din,” Laguesma told Kapihan sa Manila Bay Forum.

Earlier, the DOLE said among the top vacancies are production workers and operators (22,372), customer service representatives (16,305), cashiers, baggers and sales clerks (13,670), laborers, carpenters, and painters (9,125), and service crews (5,971). —VAL, GMA Integrated News
