Customs surpasses revenue target for January 2025

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has overshot its revenue collection target in the first month of 2025.

In a statement, the BOC reported Thursday a preliminary revenue collection of P79.343 billion in January.

Its January collection surpassed its goal for the month of P78.015 billion by P1.328 billion or 1.70%.

Moreover, the BOC's revenue performance grew by 8.10% year-on-year from P73.397 billion collected in January 2024.

The bureau said its January revenue performance reflected its optimized revenue collection efforts, streamlined trade processes, and strengthened border security.

"Our priority is to sustain revenue growth while ensuring seamless trade and robust border protection," said Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio.

The BOC said it will continue to innovate, enforce strict measures, and collaborate with stakeholders to support the government's fiscal goals and drive national progress.

The bureau collected P931.046 billion in revenues in 2024, higher than its 2023 collection of P874.166 billion.

During the BOC's 123rd founding anniversary celebration last February, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. lauded the gains made by the bureau despite the controversies and allegations of corruption that tainted its name in the past. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
